Generation Y Voter Supression

Posted by: elledub08 on: November 4, 2008

Okay guys, one last post before I get ready to go out and hit up some election night parties. According to Future Majority, a series of fake emails and text messages have been going out to young voters, particularly on college campuses:
A George Mason University student forwards over a pair of emails that went out [...]

Obama sez: Brothers need to pull up their pants

Posted by: elledub08 on: November 4, 2008

Not really about the election, but, pretty amusing. Obama does not support laws that criminalize sagging pants, but he thinks it’s not a good look on brothas.
From The New York Times:
“We should be focused on creating jobs, improving our schools, health care, dealing with the war in Iraq, and anybody, any public official, that is [...]

More from Elledub’s friends and fellow bloggers

Rashid Darden of Old Gold Soul also voted today, and this is a pic he took right after coming from the polls. I think a lot of Black men out there will hold this sentiment.

Guest Blogger: Rosetta Thurman talks about going to vote.

Posted by: elledub08 on: November 4, 2008

Rosetta Thurman is one of my girlfriends and the writer at Perspectives From the Pipeline. Today she talks about how it felt to vote for Obama:
I made it all the way into the voting booth before it really hit me. The white screen staring back at me really bore the name of a black [...]

nearly 1.4 million people on Facebook have voted. Remember that these are those young Generation Y Voters that everyone loves to talk about.
Let’s Go!

I Voted.

The picture above is of some friends and me right before we went to canvass in Chantilly, Virginia for Obama. I have to say that the outlook is pretty promising–everyone I talked to was an Obama supporter. But of course, it ain’t over til it’s over.
I have a range of emotions right now. I was [...]

Barack Obama and Black Boys (50th post extravanganza!)

Posted by: elledub08 on: October 29, 2008

I’m not sure how many bloggers have talked about this, but whether Obama wins next Tuesday or not, I can absolutely say that his campaign has done and will do so much for the self esteem of Black boys in this country. What is it like when, in the midst of the “thug” image we [...]

O(bama), you went in?!

Posted by: elledub08 on: October 29, 2008

Great ad from the Obama Camp. Also, Jack and Jill Politics is reporting that Obama’s 30-minute infomercial will air tonight at 8pm on NBC, CBS, Fox, Univision, MSNBC, BET and TV One.

Michelle and Barack: have they changed the face of Black love?

Posted by: elledub08 on: October 21, 2008

I just recently saw the Huffington Post slideshow of the Obamas’ Greatest PDA Moments. It is what it sounds like—a collection of the best pictures of Michelle and Barack doing the couple thing: hugging, sometimes kissing in front of the kids. They are so totally cute, and it’s good to see two Black people really [...]

I know it’s been a while, so I’m just gonna jump right in:
-I can’t believe I haven’t talked about this before. I was on the Green Line the other day when i saw two 8 year old girls decked out in skinny jeans and door knockers. oh, and they had on the boots with the [...]
