People fail to realize that if we can get a better handle on them, so many other positive things would fall into place! The community piece is key! We've gotten so far away from the school-community link. With parents who expect miracles from schools and schools who think parents know nothing and can offer nothing, we are going down a bad road. Holding parents more accountable is important, but they've been so out of the loop, we first have to welcome them back to the schools. Make them feel comfortable, help to empower them. We need all the pieces to fit together; parents, community, school and student in order to really make some positive changes. Start in the schools that need the help!! Get the train to moving!
